Home Or Business Energy?
It is almost high noon on the energy front. Oil,cheap Louis vuitton handbags, the material that is used to create most of the world’s electricity is becoming too expensive to use to produce electricity for home consumption. Even if you think that there are lakes of oil left, which might be true, the main reason they have not been exploited yet is because it is too expensive to get out. The only thing that makes it a viable concern is the high price of oil on the market.

Therefore, it stands to reason that oil prices cannot go down in the long term, which means that our electricity and petrol prices will stay high and will probably keep going up. Add to that the fact that manufacturing is moving to the Far East and the fact that immigration is rising and the result is lower wages in the West. The probability is that the average national wage will not rise as rapidly as the price of energy.

So what can you do about it? Well, while commodity prices are certain to keep increasing, one thing has always kept falling and that is the cost of new technology. Or to be more accurate, slightly old technology. Cutting edge technology is always expensive, but after a few years the price tumbles, as we saw with desktop computers and as we are seeing with laptop computers now.

The same trend is at work with solar panels. They are far less expensive now than they were a few years ago and they are far more responsive too. And did you know that the components that are used to make solar panels can be purchased from plastic bins at most DIY and hobbyist stores like Radio Shack? If you knew what to buy you could literally go out and bring back enough bits and pieces to make a few solar panels the next time you go out for a loaf of bread.

So why are we not doing it? We did not know that was feasible? Nobody told us? We are not technologically minded? We do not have the skill?

OK, all those reasons sound valid. Nobody has been telling us, but the truth is that it is straightforward to construct solar panels and not that expensive any more. Professional installations are still prohibitively expensive – about $45,000 -, but you can do it yourself. There are two routes you can take.

You can either get a schematic drawing, a plan, from a hobbyist shop or the Internet, purchase the components and build your panel or you can buy a self-assembly kit. Really, there are kits about that teenagers can assemble as easily as they do a plastic model airplane. ‘Locate and insert part number 44 into the main board number 3′ – that sort of simple.

If you are new to the world of solar energy, then you may be wondering how solar energy panels work? Solar energy panels are also known as photovoltaic panels; photovoltaic meaning electricity from light. Solar energy panels work by collecting protons from the sun, which displace neutrons, and thereby generate a flow of electrons or electricity. This electricity can either be stored in batteries for later use or used directly.

You can utilize solar panels to heat your pool, run your workshop tools, power the greenhouse lights and fans or if your system is large enough, replace grid electricity in your whole home or business. Most solar energy panels are designed to last upwards of 20 years but involve little to no upkeep.

There is a drop-off of the power supply after about 10 years of about 10%, but over the life-time of the solar panels, the energy savings made are enough to recoup the original cost of the system and more. Furthermore, prices are dropping while energy prices are rising. It already makes economic sense to switch to solar energy power.

Thakoon matches gold clothing with gold runway
The floor was a shimmery gold and the clothing matched at Thakoon’s show for New York Fashion Week. For his spring line, Thakoon Panichgul threw the Old West into the mix, including a duster vest and Indian paisley silk georgette shirt. Most of the models also wore cowboy hats over hair that was died hot pink and purple.Turquoise must be Thakoon’s favorite right now because there was generous use of it. One dress that stood out, a turquoise cotton poplin gathered waist shirtdress with a black paisley overlay.
If that is his favorite color, then paisley is his favorite print. There were paisley prints galore including an Indian silk and silk gold banded short paired with a jade tigerlilly silk sleeveless shell.Gold was added to nearly every piece, making the models reflect the light from the chandeliers. One piece, a khaki and silk gold-seamed slim short, seemed to jump off the runway.Where Thakoon really shined was with the embroidery in the dresses. There was a deep jade silk georgette shift dress with pearl, bugle bead and crystal embroidery that gave the allusion that the model was wearing an eccentric necklace. There were conflicting patterns and fabrics throughout, including paisley with stripes, embroidery on top of patterns and one very unique and elegant marigold kid leather top paired with a zigzag stripe silk floor-length skirt. The leather pieces managed to go by without really standing out, save for one. A black leather dress with a matching black leather vest with heart embroidery.

Dresses fashioned from bedsheets
Hundreds of shoppers enjoyed a show of creativity and improvisation skills at Gurney Plaza’s Bedsheet Dress Design Contest.Winner Tang Chia Yin (third from right), first runner-up Teo Chun Keat (second from right) and second runner-up Khoo Su Jing (second from left) with models showing off their creative outfits.
Working with a set of bedsheet, bolster case and pillow case, 10 contestants competed within the three-hour deadline to come up with wearable outfits and have models parade them on stage.Harnessing the knowledge and practical experience gained from their fashion design course,Water Pumps News, a trio of 20-year-old students from the Equator Academy of Art grabbed the top three spots.

Monday was decade day and my friends and I were happily decked out in crazy 80s work out gear. I had on dark blue tights, and large (Im 52 and wear a small) pink shorts that were above my fingertips. They were big, they were baggy and quite unattractive, and I still got called out for them because despite how oversized they were, I was told that they werent long enough. Now I wasnt forced to go home and change, but it more than killed my school spirit. I much prefer a teacher or faculty member who compliments my creativity rather than criticizing my lack of ability to find extra large shorts. Yes, I was definitely not dressed professionally. But it was spirit week, so nobody else was either. So were they inappropriate? I dont think so; they were giant and loose and not revealing.

The Stylish History of the Lacoste Polo Shirt

Monday, September 5th, 2011

The Stylish History of the Lacoste Polo Shirt
Despite their name, Lacoste polo shirts are actually direct descendants of the original cotton “tennis whites” worn in the late nineteen century.
The “tennis whites” shirt style was defined by a long-sleeved buttoned-up front, normally worn with the narrow sleeves rolled up. Although this seems like a very limiting shirt choice for athletes by today’s standards, tennis whites were considered very informal and quite “sporty” in their day.
But French tennis champion René Lacoste thought he could improve upon the old button-up style. He had long felt that the long-sleeve tennis whites of the day were uncomfortable and limited movement on the court. He began experimenting with a white, short-sleeved shirt, made from loosely-knit cotton with a design that featured a softer, flat collar and a longer tail in back.
Lacoste first wore his design at the 1926 U.S. Open Tennis Championship. Needless to say, the innovated style drew more than a few stares and remarks–some positive, and some decidedly negative. He persevered with his design and in 1927, he sewed the now famous crocodile emblem on the left upper of his shirts. This was in response to the American press, who had given him the nickname, “The Alligator.”
In the early 1930′s, Lacoste founded “Logo de Chemise Lacoste,” a company which would produce and sell his new shirt. His design solved many of the problems of the traditional tennis “whites,” in particular the tendency of the long sleeves to roll down mid-match. And the softer, flat collar could be worn either loosened or upturned to guard against sunburn on the back of the neck.
Now retired from professional tennis, Lacoste began focusing all of his attention upon the merchandising and distribution of his shirts. He joined forces with his friend and business partner, André Gillier, to market the “Lacoste Shirt” specifically to North American retailers. The embroidered crocodile logo on the shirts ensured that they were unmistakable and helped to “brand” Lacoste shirts as unique. The mass-marketing of the tennis shirt had the unexpected result of attracting other athletes. Polo players, in particular, began wearing his tennis shirt as an alternative to the thick, long sleeve, buttoned shirts that had traditionally been worn in their sport.
Today, you are just as likely to find a Lacoste Polo shirt on the golf course as on the tennis court or polo field. In fact, the familiar little crocodile has become a modern wardrobe staple for all men, not just athletes. Hip hop fashion began to include the polo shirt early on, and today Lacoste clothing can be seen in rap videos, school playgrounds and even nightclubs.
Paradoxically though, the shirt is hardly worn by tennis players these days because they began switching over to T-shirts in the late 90′s. Polo players too, have moved on from the original Lacoste shirt. Even though the shirt is seldom used for its original purpose today, it’s popularity remains as strong as ever among the general public.

DIY Wedding Favours and Homemade Wedding Favours

DIY Wedding Favours and Homemade Wedding Favours

If you are planning to get married in the near future, you will quite soon be thinking of the theme and colours of your wedding reception layout. This tends usually to match or blend with the style and colours of the bridesmaids dresses, the wedding dress, the bride’s favourite colour, or even the setting in which the wedding reception takes place. The last sounds odd, but, for instance, if your wedding is held in a bright colourful flower garden, you might even go for multi colour wedding reception table settings. Or you may be having your reception in a dramatic black and silver banqueting hall where you would like to continue the black and silver motif. Once you have decided on the colours, you choose the style. You have the widest possible range of styles available, from soft and serene glass, flowers, laces and fabrics, to funky and funny pottery, tin cans, old bottles and toys, to dramatic and dangerous gothic wrought iron, ancient weapons or weird artifacts. Besides these are a whole range of really beautiful ethnic ideas from such places as the Orient, Africa, Australia and New Zealand or the Hawaiian Islands.

You may like to continue a family tradition and go back to your roots. You could research ancient Scottish, Welsh, English or Irish marriage rites and traditions. Any one of these could give you imagination free rein in dress, music and food and drink. You next step is to visualize your table settings. A lot depends on the food to be served. You may require a full setting of silver and glass, or perhaps chop sticks, porcelain bowls and spoons, or even just finger bowls and serviettes if you plan to have a totally informal barbecue on the beach! Once the eating and drinking utensils are decided upon, and the flowers and/or other decorations organized, you will come to the wedding favours. You will find hundreds of ideas online for wedding favours. However, if you are wanting a really unique wedding favour idea, you may have to make it yourself.

You should still spend a little time to go online to get ideas. For home made wedding favours you should be able to get advice, and all the materials you need as well, from a good online wedding favours supply shop. Sometimes all it takes is just a slight variation of a good idea to make your wedding favours simply unique. For instance, take something as simple as a sachet bag. If you have basic sachet bags in your choice of colours, the type of tie or fastener you use could make it different to anything anyone else has used for their wedding favours. Containers for wedding favours need not necessarily be sachets or fabric bags. Boxes, baskets, glassware, porcelain or pottery, all have loads of possibilities. Even, for simplicity, you may like a small gift or sweet attached to a flower or bow, without any container at all.

Electronic Medical Records Might Boost Diabetes Care

Electronic Medical Records Might Boost Diabetes Care

New research suggests that using electronic medical records instead of paper files could greatly improve care for diabetic patients by boosting communication.Click here to find out more Diabetic patients did better and improved faster at various kinds of medical clinics that had switched to e-records said study author Randall D. Cebul a professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The differences were rather remarkable.

However there are caveats to the study. The research doesnt prove that electronic records directly improved patient care other factors could explain the difference. And it can be costly for clinics to convert to electronic records although many may be able to get financial incentives from the federal government.Cebul said the findings are strong. He acknowledged however that clinics often failed to fully follow guidelines about care for diabetics even when they used electronic records

Converting to electronic records may seem like a slam dunk when it comes to patient care. Proponents say they make it easier for doctors to communicate with patients and with one another. The records are also supposed to cut down on medical errors by doing things like providing warnings about medication allergies.

The Obama Administration is so confident that a move to e-records will improve care and cut costs that it made the shift a key part of health care reform efforts. Still doctors seem slow to adopt the technology A HealthDay Harris Interactive poll conducted a year ago found that fewer than adults used email to communicate with their physician. And researchers have had trouble confirming that electronic records actually boost medical care. In a lot of studies there hasnt been enough change that they can say its improved things noted Richard Hillestad a senior principal researcher who studies medical record-keeping at the non-profit research group the Rand Corporation.
