Softball Tips: Take Your Injuries Seriously
Imagine yourself in the middle of an important game. The scores are close and you are at bat. The pitcher throws the ball your way, you swing your bat, and you hear the satisfying whack of the ball hitting the bat. The ball flies to the outfield. You run to the first base.
And then the unexpected happens.
You twist your foot. And then you feel a sharp pain in that area. You try to persevere, but you already see one of the outfielders throwing the ball to the first baseman. You run harder but the pain just becomes even worse.
Don’t push it.
Sometimes, you just have to learn when to give up. This is especially the case if you are injured. We have been taught that there is honor in persistence. And you will get your teammates’ nod for taking one for the team.
But always ask yourself, is it worth it? More often than not, the answer is no. You see, pain is your body’s way of telling you that there is something wrong with it. So do not try to push harder even if you think you still can. What you may not know is that you are only worsening your condition by trying harder.
When you find yourself injured, stop. It may not feel much at the beginning but it could be something serious, only that you are not aware of the severity of your condition yet. Sit it out. It is frustrating, of course, but do you really want to be sidelined for the rest of the season, even the rest of your career, for just one game?
What if it is your coach who is pushing you to play with an injury? Try to explain to him nicely about your situation, and tell him that you do not want to worsen your condition. Your coach will always understand, so do not worry about it.
Aside from that, have your injury checked by a medical professional immediately. Scotland making progress, says Allan McGregor
McGregor was in goal for Scotland’s draw with Czech Republic and Tuesday’s win against Lithuania and believes the national side is improving.
“The last two games have been good,” said McGregor. “Very nearly six points, and I think that shows the progression.
“Obviously we need a bit of help with results, but I’m not giving up on it.”
With two matches remaining, Scotland are now two points behind the Czechs in Group I, with Spain having already won the section.

Is The Football Game a Easy Game?
The football game is a very complex sport and unless you’ve got a good head on your shoulders, you are going to find out the hard way that it isn’t simply a matter of being skilled.
Sure, you have to be big and strong, especially if you’re going to be a lineman. These guys top the scales and 300 pounds plus and feel like mack trucks when they hit you. Okay, so why the need for brains? Isn’t this a rather simple game? Isn’t the object of the game to score a goal by either running or passing the football over the goal line? As part of the new show, dozens of pieces from the V&A’s famous collection of wedding gowns have been allowed out of their glass cases. Travelling with white-gloved chaperones from London to Victoria, the delicate, beaded dresses have been carefully unpacked, specifically lit and mounted by a team of specially qualified curators.
The dresses cover two centuries of fashion. Alongside the antiques are contemporary traffic-stoppers by designers Vera Wang, Christian Dior, Lanvin and Lacroix. Tapping into the public’s fascination with celebrity weddings, the much-photographed frocks, shoes and accessories worn by burlesque celebrity Dita von Teese and pop star Gwen Stefani are also on show. Australian labels Akira Isogawa and Romance Was Born also get a look-in.
Gallery director, Karen Quinlan, says that the wedding dress is more than a symbol of romance and is regarded by fashion historians as the ultimate reflection of fashion trends and social mores at any given moment in history.
Quinlan says the increase in visitors to the gallery during this exhibition – on until November 6 – bodes well for their next fashion coup when a priceless exhibition of clothes belonging to screen goddess-turned-princess Grace Kelly will open next March.

On Friday, lawyers for Murray filed an emergency petition asking for the trial to be delayed.
They compared the upcoming trial to the recent coverage of the Casey Anthony murder trial and said Murray could not get a fair trial if the jury was not isolated.
The attorneys are requesting that the trial be delayed until the issue of jury sequestration is decided by an appeals court.
In the 28-page petition,survetement, the attorneys questioned a recent ruling by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael E. Pastor, saying he did not fully realize the amount of media attention the trial was going to get.
Conrad Murray, the physician who is charged with causing Michael Jackson’s death, is urging a judge to delay his upcoming trial so that lawyers can revisit the issue of sequestering the jury.
The Los Angeles coroner has ruled that Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009 was caused by an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol, combined with other drugs.
“Because of the international notoriety of Mr. Jackson, it would be impossible for a juror to browse any news source on television or the Internet without seeing a boldly printed headline discussing the trial,” the attorneys said in the petition.

A Los Angeles County judge denied Murray’s lawyer’s request to have the jury sequestered during a hearing in August.
Prosecutors have accused Murray, one of the pop star’s doctors, of having a role in the overdose. Jury selection is set to begin next month in his trial.
